Two awards were given to a Georgian animation at the Paris International Animation Film Festival.
Mariam Kapanadze‘s animation ‘Abandoned Village’ won both the Jury Award as well as the Audience Award.
Kapanadze said, “The idea for the film was growing in my head for a very long time. The creation of the visual and artistic mood of Upper Imereti is also connected to the village.” “Abandoned Village” is a metaphor of a person who’s forgotten the feeling that comes with creating a world filled with love.
“At first I had a script of a short feature, but I changed my mind when I decided to try animation. “For me, it was important to focus on the artistic aspect of the film. I wanted to make sure that, on the example one abandoned village would make us humans remember an abandoned home, world, parent, or friend,” she added.
