The Georgian Animation Association ‘Saqanima’ launched a short animation film workshop in September in partnership with the studio ‘Kvali’, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France and the French Institute of Georgia. It was also supported by the Tbilisi City Hall as well as the Georgian National Film Center, GNFC, and the Annecy International Animation Film Market, MIFA. International experts selected the 10 best works from 70.
Selected Georgian entries include ‘Mr. Mariam Kortua’s Burda’s Anatomy and Sophio Chincharauli and Elene Tavadze’s Eve and Adam are among the selected Georgian entries, along with projects from Bulgaria. Ukraine, Romania and Turkey.
The Tbilisi Workshop will be supervised and facilitated by French mentors between November 26 and 30. The event will focus on animation development and presentation skills. At the end, MIFA experts will select five projects to represent Georgia at MIFA 2025. GNFC will cover travel expenses for Georgian winners. The most outstanding artist will receive a month’s residency in Fontevraud (France).
