Pridon Pakuri, who had been illegally detained in the occupied territories near the village Zemo (Upper) Artsevi by the Russian occupying force, is now free and in territory controlled by central government, according to a press release from the Georgian State Security Service.
The SSSG stated that the “hotline” operated by the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) and all relevant tools available to the central government in the process of releasing Pridon Pakuri from illegal imprisonment were both actively used. The issue was also discussed at both the meetings held under the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) as well as the Geneva International Discussions.
The SSSG stated that all responsibility for destructive acts carried out in the occupied areas of Georgia and along occupation line lies with the occupying force.
It also added that “the central Government, together with international Partners, continues to actively work for the release all citizens of Georgia who are illegally detained on the occupied territory.”
