A Georgian citizen has been illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the occupied village of Artsevi near Tskhinvali, according to a report from the Georgian State Security Service (SSSG) on September 24.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the SSSG activated the “hot line” operated by the EU Monitoring Mission and informed the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) and international partners.
The SSSG stated that all existing mechanisms have been activated to ensure the release of the Georgian citizen as soon as possible. They also placed responsibility for all destructive acts committed in the occupied territories of Georgia, as well as along the occupation line, on the occupying power.
The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions and human rights violations in the occupied regions of Georgia. The SSSG and international partners continue to work towards a peaceful resolution and the protection of the rights of all citizens in the region.
