The Georgian Dream Party has nominated Kakha Kaladze to run for mayor of Tbilisi a second time.
The nomination ceremony of the mayor for the capital took place in Mtatsminda Park.
Kaladze stated, “I have spoken about my dream many times. Many people know it.” “I want to make a contribution to Georgian politics, just as I did in Georgian football. I hope to do this for the benefit of my country, my children and their children. I will not stop: I will continue my hard work to achieve this goal.
In parallel to the nomination of the candidate for mayor, media representatives and activists held an anti-violence protest near Mtatsminda Park. They demanded that those responsible for the violence of June 5 be punished.
“Violence, hatred and abuse harm our country’s development and future. All those who abused and beat you [journalists] in July 5 harm our country and future.” This kind of act should be punished,” Kaladze stated.
He also emphasized that psychological violence was not less violent, and that slandering, humiliating, and bullying are often perpetrated by different television channels for various political or other reasons.
