Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgian Prime Minister, congratulated Donald Trump for his victory in the U.S. elections and expressed hope for a “restarting” of Georgian-U.S. relationships.
Trump defeated his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris in a vote that had global geopolitical implications and security implications on November 5.
Kobakhidze told X: “I am confident President Trump’s leadership is going to promote peace globally, in our region and ensure a restart in U.S.Georgia relationships.”
Tbilisi’s ties to the West have deteriorated since the ruling Georgian Dream adopted controversial anti-LGBT legislation, and pulled the nation into the orbit of Moscow.
Georgian Dream’s declaration of victory in the parliamentary elections on October 26 was met with widespread accusations that the vote had been rigged. The U.S. demanded an investigation into the irregularities that accompanied the elections.

Viktor Orban of Hungary, an illiberal prime minister who is close to both Trump and Georgian Dream has celebrated Trump’s victory as “a much needed victory for the World.”
“They said that he would start a conflict. I am not going to start any wars, I will stop them,” said Donald Trump in a speech where he claimed victory over the 2024 presidential election.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that “Trump has a quality which is useful to us. As a businessman at heart, he hates to spend money on freeloaders and idiotic allies. He also dislikes charity projects and greedy international organisations.”
