The inflation rate in Georgia was low at 2% for the year of 2025, according to a report by the National Statistics Office (Geostat) on February 3. This means that prices overall did not go up very much over the past year.
However, some things got more expensive. The price of miscellaneous goods and services went up 6.9%. Restaurants and hotels also became more expensive, with prices rising 6.8%.
Some areas even saw a decrease in prices. Communication costs dropped 12.5%, while clothing and footwear prices fell 1.9% and furnishings, household equipment and maintenance costs decreased by 1.2%.
Over the past month, prices increased slightly at 0.4%. The price of food and non-alcoholic beverages went up 1.1%, health care prices also rose 1.1%, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco became more expensive too.
Some specific types of food got more expensive in January 2025. Fruit and grapes costs increased by 4.2%, vegetables went up by 3.5%, coffee, tea, and cocoa rose 3.3%. On the other hand, some items like mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices, and meat became cheaper.
