**Georgia‘s Inflation Rate Hits 3.4% in April**
Georgia has experienced a moderate increase in inflation, with the annual rate reaching 3.4% in April, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Service (Geostat). This rise in prices is a result of increases in various categories, including healthcare, food, and miscellaneous goods.
**Key Drivers of Inflation**
The main contributors to Georgia’s inflation rate were:
* Health services, which saw a 9.2% increase
* Food and non-alcoholic beverages, with prices rising by 7%
* Miscellaneous goods and services, where prices increased by 6.1%
* Restaurants and hotels, also experiencing a 6.1% rise
On the other hand, communication costs decreased by 12.4%.
**Monthly Price Changes**
The monthly inflation rate was influenced by:
* A 1.5% increase in clothing and footwear prices
* A 0.4% rise in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices
* A 0.4% increase in health services prices
In contrast, transport prices decreased by 1%, while furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance costs dropped by 0.7%.
**Food Price Fluctuations**
Within the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, prices increased for:
* Fruit and grapes (5.2%)
* Bread and cereals (2.2%)
* Coffee, tea, and cocoa (1.9%)
* Fish (1.5%)
* Oils and fats (1.5%)
However, prices declined for:
* Vegetables (-2.1%)
* Milk, cheese, and eggs (-1.5%)
* Mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit, and vegetable juices (-1.2%)
