The National Statistics Service of Georgia published preliminary data on October 21. It showed that the value of Georgia’s exports increased by 3.7% from January to September 2024.
Georgia’s exports rose by 4.1% between January and September 2024 to USD 4.787 Billion, while imports increased by 3.6% to reach USD 11.991 Billion. The negative trade balance of the country was USD 7.204 billion. This represents 42.9% its foreign trade turnover.
In the same period, Turkey ranked as Georgia’s top trade partner, with USD 2.333 billion in trade volume. This was followed by Russia, USD 1.836, USD 1.473, USD 1.428, and Azerbaijan, USD 957.
During the reporting time period, most Georgian exports went to Kyrgyzstan, with USD 908 millions, followed by Kazakhstan, with USD 635 millions, Azerbaijan, with USD 544,000,000, Russia, with USD 523,000, and Armenia, with USD 462,000,000.
The majority of Georgia’s imports were from Turkey with a total of USD 1.987 Billion. This was followed by the United States, with USD 1.37 billion, Russia, with USD 1.31 billion, China, with USD 1.99 billion and Germany, with USD 902 Million.
In January-September of 2024, the top exports were motor cars, which accounted for USD 1.763 billion. Next came ferro-alloys, USD 227 millions, wine made from fresh grapes, USD 215,000,000, spirituous beverages, USD 211,500,000, precious metal concentrates, USD 170,000,000, natural or artificial mineral or aerated water, without added sugar, USD 128,000,000; waters, mineral or aerated water, with added sugar, USD 108,000,000,000; medicines in measured doses
The main imports were motor vehicles for transporting goods – USD 160 million, other bars and rods made of iron and nonalloy-steel – USD 143 millions, cigars, cheroots and cigarillos – USD 120 million, structures and parts of steel or iron – USD 102 millions, and other commodities — USD 6.950 billion.
