Georgia‘s unemployment rate is at its highest level for years, as the pandemic continues affecting jobs. It will rise to 20.4% in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
Geostat estimates that the unemployment rate in 2020 will be 20,4 %, up by 3,8 % from the same period last year.
In the same period, the unemployment rate in urban and rural settlements increased by 5.6 and 1%, respectively.
“Traditionally, unemployment is higher among men than females. Geostat reported that the unemployment rate for women increased by 2,5% in the fourth quarter 2020 compared to the same time period the year before, and for men by 4,7%.
