The German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, believes that passing the draft law on transparency of foreign influence would go against Georgia’s EU aspirations and the values of the EU. He tweeted that the EU’s stance on this issue remains the same and that as a friend of Georgia, he wants to emphasize that adopting this law would be inconsistent with the country‘s EU aspirations and the EU’s norms and values. This statement was made in response to US Ambassador Kelly Degnan’s comment that they are still trying to convince the government not to move forward with the law. It is clear that the Ambassador’s words are critical of the current government’s actions.
