Peter Fischer, the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany at the event celebrating Unification Day in Germany, said: “We love the European Union. It is truly a party of world peace.”
In his speech, the ambassador stressed the importance of the cooperation between Georgian and German. “Georgia has been cooperating with Germany for more than 30 year. It is broad and profound, and based on the idea that Georgia should be Euro-Atlantic integrated. Last year I was here with the Prime minister of Georgia. He stressed the importance and quality our cooperation. “I agreed with him but warned against the risk of missing out on this historic opportunity,” said he.
Peter Fischer said that Germany did not want to interfere with the parliamentary election of Georgia. That’s why leaders of political parties and members of parliament were not invited to this event. “This year you may have noticed that we did invite leaders of the Georgian parliament, government or political parties, but none of them were invited to the event,” Peter Fischer said. “We want to make it clear that we will not interfere with the October 26 elections,” said the ambassador.
