The British government has previously stated that it “supports fitting German-donated Sea King Helicopters modern missile systems.”
The UK and Germany plan to equip Ukrainian Sea King helicopters equipped with advanced missile systems. Militarnyi claims that the helicopters could be armed with Brimstone missiles or Marte ER rockets, enhancing their offensive capability.
In January, Germany committed to provide six multi-purpose Sea King Mk41 helicopters, as well as comprehensive training for Ukrainian military personnel, in order to enhance Ukraine‘s aerial capabilities during the ongoing Russo–Ukrainian War. In addition, Britain committed to transferring three more Sea Kings. The potential missile upgrades will increase the helicopters’ range and effectiveness.
The UK Government announced that on 23 October, specialist teams and the defense industry would work closely together to ensure Ukraine’s successful.
