German generators will be installed in Dnipro Oblast’s educational and medical facilities to help overcome infrastructure problems caused by Russian persistent shelling.
Governor Serhiy lysak announced on 1 November that the Dnipropetrovsk oblast had received 100 generators, courtesy of Germany’s Federal Agency for Technical Assistance.
Since 2022, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has suffered from Russian artillery and rocket attacks, especially in cities like Nikopol. These attacks are regularly directed at critical infrastructure, causing frequent power outages as well as disruptions of essential services in the oblast. It is essential to have backup power sources in order to maintain the basic operation of hospitals, schools and water supply facilities.
According to the report, Germany has also provided two manipulators that will be deployed in Nikopol, the Chervonohryhorivska Community, and other areas that are regularly shelled by Russia.
In early October, Germany announced that it would provide six large generators to Ukraine to help with winter preparations.
The Netherlands announced a new EUR209.5m ($228mn) support package to restore critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
