**Germany to Send Air Defense Systems to Ukraine**
Germany will send two more air defense systems, called IRIS-T, to Ukraine by the end of the year. This was announced by Major General Christian Freuding on November 25.
The two new systems will include one that can shoot down targets from a medium range (SLM) and another that can shoot down targets from a short range (SLS). These systems are part of a bigger package that Germany is sending to Ukraine to help protect it from enemy attacks.
**Ukraine Already Has Several Air Defense Systems**
This new delivery will bring the total number of IRIS-T air defense systems in Ukraine’s arsenal to seven. The previous five were delivered earlier this year, with the sixth one promised by President Volodymyr Zelensky on November 13 after a call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
**IRIS-T is a Powerful System**
The IRIS-T system can shoot down aircraft, helicopters, drones, and cruise missiles. It’s considered state-of-the-art technology that will help Ukraine defend itself against enemy attacks.
**Germany’s Support for Ukraine Continues**
This new delivery is part of a bigger commitment from Germany to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia. Earlier this month, the German government announced a new military aid package featuring howitzers, vehicles, and hundreds of drones. This package will help Ukraine’s defense capabilities even more.
