Gia Japaridze is the leader of the “Unity – National Movement” coalition, who arrived at Marneuli with other leaders.
Japaridze says that all violations will be recorded. According to him the most important thing for the citizens of Georgia is not to be lazy and leave home.
“First, I want to thank the free media for their immediate response.” I think the media’s role will be important today because of the events we are watching. In those election stations that the opposition wins with an advantage, they try and provoke physical clashes or violence against the observers or members of the commission. It appears that they are given a similar task.
We are in Marneuli. We are currently in the 69th Marneuli area, which is still open. In the 18th precinct there were also problems, as people tried to vote without ID cards. In the 64th district, there were also violations reported. There is a deliberate attempt to create problems in all polling stations of Marneuli.
We are here to address these issues. Our representative was assaulted physically in one of the districts. He is now in hospital. Also present are foreign observers and representatives from the international media. All of this indicates that the “Georgian Dream”, which is losing these elections, is using such methods to prevent the opposition from winning.
We record and document all violations. We mark and account for everything. The main thing now is that the Georgian citizens should not be laziness, but leave their homes and go to the voting stations and participate in elections. This is needed to end Russian influence on Georgia and return it to the path to joining the European Union. “The higher the turnout in these elections, the greater the victory of the opposition,” said Gia Japardze.
Dimitri Shashkin also commented on these violations.
“This particular, 69th Precinct in Marneuli, was one of our most successful precincts, and we always won with a large margin. Georgian Dream knew that well and threw votes to cancel this precinct. The precinct could not be canceled, and the same thing is expected everywhere. Our Victory,” said Dimitri Shashkin.
