High-Level Conversation in Georgia, No Talk of Elections
A surprising conversation took place between French President Emmanuel Macron and Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of the Georgian government. The first deputy speaker of parliament, Gia Volski, spoke to journalists about this event.
Volski said that during the conversation, there was no talk of elections or issues related to Salome Zurabishvili. Instead, an interesting conversation took place and it needs to be continued.
“We are talking at a level that is welcome and good,” Volski said. “This conversation does not speculate on which side is winning here. The main topic is that Georgia wins and stability is maintained in our country and the entire region.”
The European Union, France, and its president are interested in this, according to Volski. He found it surprising that Georgia was the first to be interested.
A wide range of issues were discussed during the conversation, which lasted for one hour. There was no talk about confrontations, coup attempts, riots, or physical confrontations.
Volski said that any speculation related to this conversation is inappropriate and irrelevant. The head of the party is responsible for the situation, not the prime minister or other leaders. The main thing is the stability of Georgia and the region.
The telephone conversation between Macron and Ivanishvili took place at the initiative of the French president. According to his administration, Macron called for an inclusive dialogue with all political parties and civil representatives.
Macron also asked Ivanishvili to release all detainees and respect the freedom of expression and assembly in accordance with European and democratic aspirations.
