Georgia’s Foreign Policy Not a Concern for EU
The European Union has no issues with Georgia’s foreign policy, according to Gia Volski. He is the First Vice-Speaker of Parliament in Georgia.
Volski said that the EU and Georgia have similar views on most things. The main difference is that Georgia does not want to go to war with Russia. If it did, it would hurt the country a lot. Other than that, there are no big differences between their approaches.
There was one issue where the EU was stricter than Georgia. This was about promoting LGBT rights. Only two countries, Hungary and Slovakia, took a similar stand to Georgia’s on this issue. They believe in traditional values like same-sex marriage is not accepted.
Volski also said that the elections in Georgia were fair and followed European rules. When the EU makes decisions that are unfair or strict towards Georgia, it is because of politics, not because of anything wrong with Georgia.
