Parliamentary Elections Looming in Georgia
A difficult situation is developing in Georgia, but it’s not considered a full-blown political crisis. A government cannot be approved, the budget cannot be adopted, or the government can be declared “no confidence” for that to happen.
The First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski, says there’s a double standard being applied to Georgia. He believes new parliamentary elections will soon take place and are scheduled before local self-government elections next year.
Most people have already made up their minds about holding early elections. Ignoring this demand would be unfair pressure on society as a whole, not just on one particular political party.
About 1 million 120 thousand voters in Georgia supported the Georgian Dream party. Volski wonders how some people can call themselves “the people” when they don’t agree with holding new elections and many citizens do want them to happen.
Volski feels strongly that a double standard is being applied to Georgia, unfairly targeting one group over another.
