**US Imposes Sanctions on Georgian Politician**
The US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chairman of the “Georgian Dream” party. This decision was announced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, leader of “Gakharia for Georgia,” the sanctions mean that the government might resort to more severe and brutal actions. Gakharia said that while the sanctions were expected, they do not change anything about the political processes in the country.

Gakharia stressed that there is nothing to celebrate or rejoice about here. He emphasized that the fight for a better future must continue. The sanctions have exposed the “political narrative” of the Georgian government, which claimed it was leaving with dignity to the European Union and would fix relations with everyone.
**A Tough Road Ahead**
Gakharia warned that there will still be a lot of work ahead, and it might even become more difficult because he does not think this decision was unexpected for Ivanishvili. He suspects that Ivanishvili was somewhat prepared for this.
