Election Commission Leader Speaks Out on Falsifying Elections
The leader of Georgia‘s election commission, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, has spoken about the seriousness of accusing someone of falsifying elections.
Accusations should be backed up by evidence and facts, he said. If someone is accused of cheating in an election, they must prove that it happened. This is a very serious charge, according to Kalandarishvili.
He also said that if there were any problems with the election, the relevant agencies would take action. They would investigate and do what’s right under the law.
The election commission itself has already asked the prosecutor’s office to look into some accusations of cheating. This happened just a few days after the election.
Kalandarishvili wants people to know that they should only make serious accusations if they have proof. He doesn’t want the time after an election to be ruined by false claims. The public needs accurate information, he said.
