Opposition Leaders Call for Continued Protest and Strike in Georgia
Georgia is on the brink of a major crisis. Opposition leaders are calling for continued protest and even general disobedience, including a strike across the country. Giorgi Vashadze, a leader of “Unity – National Movement“, made this statement after a meeting with other opposition parties.
Vashadze said that the fight against the self-proclaimed regime must be taken to its final stage. He emphasized the need for unity and solidarity among Georgians. The goal is not just to stop the protests but also to cause general disobedience and a strike in all of Georgia. This would mean people refusing to work and go about their daily lives until their demands are met.
The opposition leaders are targeting law enforcement agencies that they believe are operating outside the law. They want to hold accountable those who are responsible for violence against civilians, including ordinary police officers. They also accuse certain TV companies of spreading disinformation. These include “Imedi” and “Postv”, as well as sometimes “Rustavi 2” and the public broadcaster.
