Lithuanian President Speaks Out on Georgia‘s European Future
Lithuania‘s President, Gitanas Nausėda, is unhappy with Georgia’s government. He made these comments before a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels.
Georgia’s people want to be part of Europe. Eighty percent of Georgians support the idea of joining Europe. However, their government says it wants to go its own way. This decision has disappointed President Nausėda.
He said that he understands there may be disagreements about recent elections in Georgia. But what really bothers him is the government’s decision to leave the European path. He thinks this choice should not take away the chance for most Georgians to join Europe.
