We call on international monitoring organizations not to take into account false information regarding ID cards and to evaluate in their own reports both the replication of the lies of the opposition and the positioning of local organizations in terms of their support, Givi Mikanadze, the deputy of the parliamentary majority, said at a briefing held in the office of the party.
He responded to the statement of Tamar Kordzaia, one of the leaders of the “Unity-National Movement” coalition, who explained that the representatives of “Georgian Dream” confiscated the identity cards of 22 elderly people and 9 employees in the nursing home in Tsnori. As Mikanadze noted, the presented information is a lie.
“As the election day approaches, the disinformation campaign on the part of the opposition and their supporters, as well as media organizations and non-governmental organizations, is increasing. Today we would like to draw attention to the circulation of the lie that has been spread in the last few days, claiming that voters’ identity cards are being confiscated for the benefit of the “Georgian Dream”. This kind of campaign of lies is characteristic of radicals, and we saw many attempts to do this even in the 2020 elections, which were finally proven to be only lies and misinformation.
This time, we present information that once again confirms that false information without facts and evidence is being spread in order to deliberately discredit the ruling team. In particular:
On October 17, Tamar Kordzaia stated at a briefing that the representatives of “Georgian Dream” confiscated the identity cards of 22 elderly people and 9 employees in the nursing home in Tsnori and took them to the office. The information presented is a lie, as evidenced by Kordzaia’s statement, according to which [I quote] “We know the names and surnames of each of these citizens and the perpetrators of this crime, whom we will not name today.” In fact, no identity theft has taken place and is an outright lie. However, such a statement from Tamar Kordzaia will not be a surprise to anyone, because during the 2020 and 2021 elections, she was engaged in circulating lies and was one of the main spokespeople of the opposition.
On October 17, TV company “Mtavari” aired a story with which it tried to manipulate the employees of the Rustavi cleaning service. The falsehood voiced in the story is an attempt to strain the situation in Rustavi before the elections. The mayor of Rustavi held a special briefing in connection with this today, in which it was confirmed that the information presented in the story is a complete lie, and he directed the inter-agency commission and the observation missions to study the incident in detail, so that the next fact of pressure on the voters and spread of lies by the opposition party TV stations before the elections should be reflected accordingly. in conclusions.
It is a fact that the spread of this false narrative is facilitated by the so-called neutral local monitoring organizations, thus they once again show the public that they have nothing to do with neutrality and impartiality.
Today, the chairman of the Association of Young Lawyers held a briefing, where he presented an interim report and responded to the decision of the Anti-Corruption Commission Bureau to identify specific individuals and organizations as subjects with political goals, calling it a misinterpretation of the law, as well as the non-airing of the “Georgian Dream” advertising video by the Communications Commission. regarding the establishment of an administrative offense. In addition to the fact that the court discussed both issues and confirmed the correctness of the decisions made within the framework of the law, it is clear to everyone that the representatives of “Transparency International” and “Choose Europe” were and are directly involved in political processes, if nothing else, their representatives were nominated by various opposition parties as candidates for parliament. in the party lists and a number of donations made by them for the benefit of the parties have been established. Therefore, making similar statements against the background of continuing to ignore the facts of obstruction of the pre-election campaign against the ruling team, once again reveals the bias of local organizations.
Accordingly, we appeal to the donors of local organizations, they should take into account that the disinformation spread by the organizations funded by them and the formation of wrong perceptions among the voters is also their responsibility; Therefore, we call on them to respond appropriately to these facts.
We call on the international monitoring organizations not to take into account false information regarding ID cards and to evaluate in their own reports both the replication of the lies of the opposition and the positioning of local organizations in terms of their support”, – said Mikanadze.
