The locations of military sites in Ukraine are no longer displayed on Google Maps, said Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Counter-Disinformation Center under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, on Nov. 7.
Kovalenko reported on Nov. 3, that the online map service of the tech giant had revealed the locations for Ukrainian defense infrastructure following a recent update.
He said that images of Ukrainian sites for military were visible on Google Maps, and that Russian forces “actively dispersed” the images.
Google fixed the maps problem… Kovalenko said that everything will be fine in the future.
According to Google’s press service the satellite images were taken over a year ago, and are from publicly accessible sources.
In a statement published on November 6, the company stated that it “deliberately does not publish the latest pictures of war zones.”
Kovalenko claimed that old photos could reveal the strategy behind the weapon locations, assisting Russia.
Five times, guided aerial bombs were used by Russia to strike Zaporizhzhia. The attack damaged houses, an apartment building and a cancer hospital.
