Government Forms Teams for Russia Talks
The government of Serbia has formed two teams to talk to Russia. One team will discuss a long-term gas supply contract, and the other will deal with the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS).
Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said this on Sunday after a government meeting. She also announced that a special body would be created to oversee these talks. The prime minister would lead this group.
The minister assured citizens that their needs would be protected during these negotiations. The US has threatened to impose sanctions on NIS, but the government wants to prevent any negative impact on Serbia’s economy.
Long-term gas supply is also a priority for the government. They want to secure a good deal with Russia. President of Serbia recently talked to a high-ranking US official and learned that direct sanctions would be imposed on NIS.
