**Ukrainian Drones Attack Russian Fuel Facility**
A fuel and energy facility in Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast was attacked by Ukrainian drones on March 17. The attack caused a fire, according to regional governor Igor Babushkin.
The drones targeted several facilities in the region, including the fuel and energy complex. Babushkin reported that debris from the destroyed drones fell on the facility, causing a fire. One person was hospitalized due to the incident.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had shot down 13 drones over the oblast. However, The Kyiv Independent could not verify these claims independently.
Astrakhan Oblast is located in southwestern Russia and borders Kazakhstan. The city of Astrakhan is far from the front line in Ukraine.
Ukraine has been targeting Russia’s energy and military infrastructure to disrupt Moscow‘s war effort. Recently, Ukrainian drones struck a Russian oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, igniting a gasoline storage tank.
Kyiv aims to limit Moscow’s ability to sustain its full-scale invasion by hitting Russian refineries, oil depots, and defense industry sites.
