Governor orders mandatory evacuation of Kupiansk

On October 15, Kharkiv Oblast Oleh Syniehubov declared that local authorities will conduct mandatory evacuations for residents of the city of Kupiansk and three adjacent communities due to the ongoing Russian advance in the region.
Kupiansk, a strategic city in Kharkiv Oblast, was temporarily occupied in 2022 by Russian . Kupiansk was heavily attacked in recent months as Russia intensified its assaults on the area.
After the Kharkiv offensive, Russian forces have been much more active in Kupiansk.
Syniehubov, the TV host, said that due to the security situation it was decided to intensify evacuations for civilians within the Kupiansk District, including the City of Kupiansk.
Syniehubov said that Borova village, another strategic foothold in Kharkiv Oblast for , would be evacuated as well.
“The Kupiansk Sector is the most difficult.” We can no longer guarantee that electricity, heat, and water will be restored on the east bank of Oskil River which divides the town due to constant shelling,” Syniehubov stated. He added that “repair teams immediately come under Russian gunfire” when they attempt to conduct restoration work.
Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to test the resolve of Ukrainians during another cold winter.
The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russians had carried out 26 strikes near Kupiansk in the past day.
Russia continues to make small advances along different axes of the front line, capturing villages in oblast and Donetsk.
