On the basis of an appeal from the Central Election Commission of Georgia, the Government of Georgia declared October 25 a public holiday.
Central Election Commission (CEC) says that the decision was made by the government based on a request to the CEC. The CEC said the decision was based on the fact that the polling station are located in public kindergartens and schools, which could cause delays to the setting up of polling stations on working days.
The CEC also stated that out of the 3,031 precincts for elections, 483 are kindergartens, 1,675 in public schools and 873 in other facilities.
