**Greece to Send Missiles to Ukraine**
Greece will send 24 old missiles called Sea Sparrow to Ukraine. These missiles have been used for nearly 40 years and will help protect Ukrainian forces from air attacks.
Ukraine’s military has a special project called FrankenSAM, where engineers take old Soviet-era systems and make them work with Western-made missiles. They have already successfully done this with the Buk-M1 platform, which can now fire Sea Sparrow missiles.
**Why Greece is Sending Missiles**
Greece’s decision to send these missiles does not weaken their own defense capabilities in the Aegean region. This move shows that Greece is committed to supporting Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.
Ukraine has been asking its Western allies for more advanced weaponry, like Patriot missiles and S-300 systems, but some of these requests have not been met. The Sea Sparrow missiles will be integrated into FrankenSAM, helping Ukrainian forces bridge the gap between Soviet and Western military technologies.
**More Support from Greece**
Greece has already provided Ukraine with other forms of support, including ammunition, infantry fighting vehicles, and other equipment. They had also planned to transfer 32 old F-16 fighters to Ukraine via US upgrades but this is still pending confirmation.
