**Georgia’s Foreign Secretary Slams Sanctions Against “Rats Fleeing Sinking Ship”**
The Georgian Dream Political Council recently stated that sanctions against them won’t intimidate the Georgian people. However, Grigol Gegelia, Secretary of Foreign Relations for the “Strong Georgia” coalition, disagrees.
Gegelia said on a news program called “Newsroom” that Ivanishvili and his group have everything to fear from sanctions. He claimed that Ivanishvili has no connection with the Georgian people and shouldn’t speak on their behalf. Gegelia stated that Western states are sanctioning the people responsible for sinking Georgia, not the Georgian people themselves.
**New Elections in Georgia Expected**
Gegelia expressed confidence that new elections will be held in Georgia. He believes a country can’t function normally with an illegitimate parliament. He also stated that Ivanishvili’s main concern is his own well-being and personal interests.
**Government on “Magnitsky List” Can’t Function Properly**
Gegelia noted that when government officials are listed alongside terrorists and criminals on the “Magnitsky List,” it’s impossible to maintain security. This means no one will collaborate with such a government.
**Non-Recognition Act a Catastrophe for Georgian Dream**
Regarding the “Non-Recognition Act of the Georgian Nightmare Government,” Gegelia said bipartisan support is catastrophic for the Georgian Dream administration. He claimed that if even the first democratic state in the world considers not recognizing them, it’s a sign that no government within Ivanishvili’s orbit will ever be recognized.
