**Ukraine Charity Surpasses 40,000 Donations**
A charity in Guernsey has achieved a remarkable milestone. They have received over 40,000 donations of knitted baby items to help families in Ukraine.
The appeal was started after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The charity, Stand with Ukraine, has been collecting hats, blankets, vests, and comforters made by people from Guernsey and even as far away as Scotland.
**Leadership‘s Pride**
Kay Rawlins, who leads the appeal for Stand with Ukraine, is very proud of the group’s work. “We don‘t go out and ask for contributions,” she said. “They just appear constantly.”
The charity sends the items to Guernsey first before packing them and sending them to Ukraine via a postal company that doesn’t charge any fees.
**Strong Support**
Mrs Rawlins believes the strong feelings people have about the war are why the charity has been so well supported. The fact that the donations are for babies, who don’t play a role in the conflict, makes people even more generous.
The team at Stand with Ukraine is happy to be helping those in need, especially since they have nothing to do with the war.
