“In the near term, the population will receive the Pfizer vaccination,” said Ekaterine Tikaradze, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Affairs, during a meeting between Kelly Degnan, US Ambassador to Georgia.
The Minister of Health explained to the American diplomat the current epidemic situation in Georgia.
The focus of the discussion was on vaccination and combating COVID-19.
“An important discussion was held with the Ambassador. We discussed the steps taken to combat the pandemic and the epidemic situation. The vaccine was the main topic of discussion. We are actively collaborating with Covax, and we’ve made some progress. In the near future, it will be possible for the population of Georgia to be vaccinated with Pfizer,” stated Ekaterine Tikaradze.
Kelly Degnan, US Ambassador to Georgia, assessed the steps taken by her side to contain COVID-19.
“We had a very fruitful meeting where I received updated details about the plans of Georgian government for managing the pandemic by 2021. Everyone expects a close coordination of the vaccination plan. “It is important to have an organized vaccination plan, not just in Georgia and the United States, but all over the world, for the safety of the community, the rebuilding of the economy, and opening schools as soon as we can,” she said.
Tamar Gabunia, Deputy Minister for IDPs in the Occupied Territory, Labor, Health and Social Affairs, attended the meeting.
