Black Forest drone group uses Shark UAVs for HIMARS strikes 30+ km away.
Ukrainian forces have successfully targeted Russian troops in a training session held in Zaporizhzhia Oblast in southern Ukraine. This is a demonstration of their growing capabilities in deep-strike and the integration advanced drone technology into modern warfare. Forbes analyzed this attack.
The strike comes only days after a similar assault in the same area, marking at least seven such raids on Russian trainees along 1,200 kilometers of the front line since February. These attacks could have resulted in hundreds or Russian casualties.
According to the Come Back Alive Foundation on 16 October, Ukraine’s Black Forest drone team used a Shark unmanned aircraft (UAV) in order to spot a group of Russian infantrymen and sniper training within range of Ukrainian artillery. The drone sent coordinates to the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System battery (HIMARS), which fired a rocket containing cluster submunitions.
