**International Travel to Georgia Sees Significant Increase**
In July 2022, the number of international travelers to Georgia increased by a whopping 176.7% compared to the same period in 2021. This is a significant increase from last year’s numbers. However, when compared to the pre-pandemic levels of 2019, international travel declined by 34.7%.
The top countries of origin for international visits were Russia, Armenia, and Turkey. Among major tourism markets, Belarus (65.6%), Kazakhstan (46.7%), and Saudi Arabia (21.7%) saw a significant increase in the number of international visitors compared to pre-pandemic levels.
**Border Crossings and Hotel Prices**
Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine, border crossing statistics have shown some interesting trends. In June 2022, there were approximately 45,000 more entries from Russia than exits. For Ukrainians, this number was around 4,000, while for Belarusians it was around 3,000.
Hotel prices in Georgia have also seen a significant increase due to various factors such as the recovery of international tourism and an influx of Russians, Belarusians, and Ukrainians since the beginning of the war. According to data, hotel prices increased by 13% in July 2022 compared to June 2022. The highest monthly increase was seen in Samtskhe-Javakheti (30.1%) and Adjara (22%).
**Average Hotel Prices**
The average cost of a room in a 3-star hotel in Georgia was 173 GEL per night, while the average cost of a room in a 4-star hotel was 276 GEL per night. The average cost of a room in a guesthouse was 118 GEL per night, and in a 5-star hotel it was 563 GEL per night.
