**Hungary Opposes Ukraine‘s Integration into European Defense Structures**
Hungary does not support Ukraine’s integration into the European defense structures. Instead, they see Ukraine as a buffer zone between Europe and Russia.
“We do not see the security of Europe in the integration of Ukraine into defense systems,” said Hungarian Minister for European Affairs Janos Boka. “We see the need for a buffer zone between Russia and European defense structures, which serves the interests of both Russia and Europe.”
Hungary has consistently obstructed sanctions against Russia and military aid for Ukraine while opposing Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
**EU Leaders Meet to Discuss Further Support for Ukraine**
As EU leaders gather for a summit to discuss further support for Ukraine and increased defense spending, Hungary plans to hold an opinion survey on support for Ukrainian membership later this year. The survey comes as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has claimed that Ukraine’s accession would “destroy” his homeland.
Meanwhile, the US will meet with Russia in Riyadh on March 24 to discuss the war in Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered Ukrainian citizens residing in Russia and Russian-occupied territories to leave by September 10 or regulate their legal status.
**EU to Provide Ukraine with €5 Billion for Ammunition**
The EU is working on providing Ukraine with €5 billion ($5.4 billion) for ammunition, as a much larger €40 billion package still lacks consensus. Top EU diplomat Kaja Kallas made the announcement on March 20.
Russian forces have launched attacks in several cities across Ukraine overnight, including Kropyvnytskyi and Saratov Oblast. The Ukrainian Air Force intercepted 75 out of 171 Russian drones launched overnight.
**International Support for Ukraine Continues to Grow**
Finland will seek out more international partners to partake in the coalition and assist Ukraine in building shelters in the face of regular Russian aerial attacks. Ministers from Finland and Ukraine signed an agreement on March 19.
A new shipment of Western F-16 fighter jets has arrived in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on March 19. The US is also expected to meet with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia for continued peace talks.
