Hurricane Biden delays visit to Germany ahead of Ramstein meeting

Karine Jean Pierre, spokesperson for the White House, announced on October 8 that has postponed his trip to and Angola because of Hurricane Milton’s approach.
According to the spokesperson, the U.S. President delayed his visit to oversee the emergency response following Hurricane Milton.
The , led by the United States, is a group of over 50 countries including all 32 NATO member states that meets at the U.S. , Germany. The group’s last meeting in Ramstein on Sept. 6, was its 24th since it was established in April 2022.
The next Ramstein meeting will mark the first time that a meeting of leaders has been held. Zelensky attended the last meeting in person and secured more military aid, including from the U.S.A., U.K. Germany, , and other allies.
Zelensky had already presented his five point plan to Biden on his trip to the U.S. late September. The Ukrainian president also discussed the plan with Donald Trump, Kamala and members of Congress.
The full details of the peace plan have not yet been made public.
According to Kyiv’s goal, it is to strengthen Ukraine’s position in and to pressure Russia to agree to a just peaceful settlement.
The Washington Post, citing a diplomat who was not named, reported that Kyiv may also be offered “more tangible steps” regarding its NATO Membership during the Ramstein Summit.
Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the , said that on October 2, the U.S. State Department had reviewed Ukraine’s Plan and identified “a number” of productive steps there.
“The victory plan presented by Ukraine is not only a question of actions taken by Ukraine.” Miller said that it’s a matter of actions other countries would also take.
