The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to relocate to New Orleans to prepare for the Saints’ game on Sunday. Hurricane Milton is expected to land along Florida’s west coastline.
The Bucs will travel to another state on Tuesday and spend the remainder of the week there instead of training at the team’s Tampa facility.
Milton strengthened to a Category 5 Hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico Monday and could make landfall in the Tampa Bay region Wednesday.
The NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning cancelled Monday night’s scheduled finale preseason against the Nashville Predators. The game was originally rescheduled for Sept. 27 because of Hurricane Helene which caused extensive damage to the region two weeks earlier.
The Lightning will open their regular season on Friday at Carolina. The team has not yet announced whether it will evacuate to Raleigh in North Carolina ahead of the storm.
The NBA’s Orlando Magic is on the road this coming week, playing in New Orleans on Monday and San Antonio on Wednesday.
UCF in Orlando has announced that all home athletics on Wednesday and Thursday will be canceled. This includes the volleyball match on Wednesday against Colorado, the women’s soccer game against Arizona on Thursday and the first day at the ITA Southeast Regionals for men’s tennis on Thursday.
The school confirmed that the kickoff time for Saturday’s Big 12 football home game against Cincinnati is still 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
Coach Gus Malzahn says the Knights will practice Wednesday morning, before the storm is expected to affect the Orlando area.
Malzahn said, “We’re trying as best we can to keep our routine.” “We’ll adapt to it.” No matter what happens, we’ll have a strategy. We’ve talked about it. “I think the most important thing planning-wise, is to make sure that our players and all of the people in our programme are taken care off.”
