**IMF Gives Ukraine $1.1 Billion in Aid**
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a payment of $1.1 billion to help Ukraine with its budget. This is the latest step in a four-year plan to give Ukraine $15.6 billion.
The IMF made this decision after reviewing Ukraine’s progress under a special program called the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). The EFF program aims to help Ukraine recover from Russia’s war and become more stable financially.
“Russia’s war in Ukraine continues to have a big impact on the country,” said Kristalina Georgieva, head of the IMF. “But thanks to good decision-making by Ukrainian authorities and support from outside, the economy is staying stable.”
The IMF says that Ukraine has been more resilient than expected despite attacks on its energy sector. As a result, the country’s economic growth in 2024 might be higher than predicted.
However, the IMF also predicts that there will be an economic slowdown in 2025 due to ongoing war pressures and other challenges.
This latest payment brings the total amount of money the IMF has given Ukraine under the EFF program to $9.8 billion.
