In 2024, Ukraine‘s military successfully launched hundreds of drone and missile attacks deep inside Russia, targeting critical infrastructure such as missile warehouses, oil refineries, and energy facilities. According to Ukrainian sources, the strikes resulted in significant losses for the Russian military, including a large warehouse of missiles and artillery at the Toropets facility.
The U.K. Defense Ministry also reported on the destruction of a tonnage considered the largest loss of ammunition by Russia during its war against Ukraine. Experts have noted that even minor damage to warehouses could lead to complications in Russia’s logistics operations, as it may delay the unloading or storage of new munitions for several hours.
Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries have caused significant disruptions in production and led to a sharp rise in fuel prices within Russia. The strikes have forced several refineries to suspend production, resulting in an output drop of around 17%.
As Ukraine continues to face pressure from Western sanctions, the country is looking to increase its own defense industry production, aiming to become a key global security contributor and strong player in the global arms and defense technology market.
The Ukrainian army is committed to increasing drone and missile production, with plans to produce at least 4 million drones per year. The domestically produced missiles could be a game-changer for Ukraine’s attacks deep into Russia.
However, despite these efforts, Ukraine still faces challenges in countering Russia’s grinding advance on the front line.
