In a phone call with Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, , suggested that U.S. exports could replace Russian liquefied gas (LNG).
Von der Leyen spoke to Trump three days after he won the Nov. 5, 2016 .
Von der Leyen, a reporter in Budapest, said that replacing Europe’s Russian LNG supplies was “one of topics” the two leaders discussed.
“We still get a lot of LNG via Russia from Russia,” said she.
“Why not replace it with American Liquefied Natural Gas, which is cheaper and lowers our energy prices?”
