**Georgia Gets Back Citizens from EU Countries**
In the past year, Georgia allowed 4,173 people to return home. This is according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The government reviewed a total of 4,196 requests to send people back and only said “no” to 23.
Most of these decisions were made about people who were living in Germany. Germany approved the return of 2,537 Georgian citizens. France was second with 700 approvals. Other countries where many Georgians were sent back include Greece, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, the UK, Austria, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
**Agreement in Place**
This process is made possible by an agreement between Georgia and the European Union. The agreement allows for the return of Georgian citizens who are living illegally in EU countries. It also lets the EU send third-country nationals back to Georgia under certain conditions.
