Russia Hits Ukraine with 347 Missiles and 2,500 Drones in November
Ukraine was hit by a total of 347 missiles and over 2,500 attack drones launched by Russia in November. This information was shared by President Volodymyr Zelensky at a news conference on December 1.
The launch of so many missiles and drones is part of a larger pattern of Russian attacks against Ukraine’s cities and towns. These attacks have been happening almost daily since September. In addition to the missiles and drones, Russia has also launched large-scale aerial attacks against Ukrainian energy infrastructure in November.
Many people were hurt or killed during these attacks. On November 28, the energy minister said that a “massive blow” was struck at the country’s power grid. Just one day earlier, on November 17, Russia launched a big attack overnight that left seven civilians dead and 19 more injured across multiple regions.
The continued attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure are expected to make life harder for Ukrainians as winter approaches.
Cheap but effective Iranian-designed Shahed-type drones have been used by Russia in its attacks against Ukraine. Since the fall of 2022, tens of thousands of these drones have been launched at Ukraine. The number of drones launched in November was higher than the 2,000 that were launched in October.
Russia is also suffering significant losses in its war with Ukraine. In November alone, 45,720 Russian soldiers were wounded, killed, or captured and could no longer participate in combat operations. Russia also lost a lot of equipment and weapons worth over $3 billion in November, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
