Prosecutor’s Office Calls in Opposition Leader
The Prosecutor’s Office has called Khatia Dekanoidze, a leader of the “Unity National Movement”, for questioning. This is part of an investigation into possible election fraud.
Dekanoidze does not want to go to the Prosecutor’s Office. Instead, she wants to give her statement in court, with a judge present. She does not trust the Prosecutor’s Office and thinks they are only doing what one person wants them to do.
The Prosecutor’s Office has already questioned several other opposition leaders and representatives from non-governmental organizations. These people were asked questions about possible election fraud, also in the presence of a judge.
The Prosecutor’s Office says that some members of the Central Election Commission have been questioned too, but they are not naming names.
