Russian Attacks Kill One, Injure 36 in Ukraine
Over the past day, Russian attacks on Ukraine have resulted in one death and at least 36 injuries. This was reported by regional authorities on January 5.
Ukrainian Forces Repel Drone Attack
Ukrainian forces were successful in downing 61 out of 103 drones launched by Russia overnight. The Air Force reported that another 42 drones were “lost.”
Russian Troops Target Residential Area
Russian troops attacked the border town of Semenivka in Chernihiv Oblast with guided aerial bombs, targeting a residential area. Nine people, including two children, were injured. The attack damaged several buildings and infrastructure.
Multiple Attacks Across Ukraine
There were attacks reported across Ukraine on January 5. In Sumy Oblast, a Russian guided aerial bomb destroyed part of a residential building in the village of Svesa, injuring 10 people.
In Donetsk Oblast, four people were injured in Sloviansk and one person was injured in Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka. In Kharkiv Oblast, a 74-year-old man was killed near Kupiansk. Three people were injured in Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Russian Forces Target Multiple Settlements
In Kherson Oblast, Russian forces targeted 34 settlements, including the regional center of Kherson. Nine people were injured over the past day.
