**Russia Attacks Ukraine, Killing At Least Three Civilians**
Over the past day, Russian attacks across Ukraine killed at least three civilians and injured at least 23 others. Regional authorities reported this on January 7.
**Many Drones Shot Down**
Russia launched 38 Shahed-type attack drones and other dummy drones against Ukraine overnight. The Air Force reported that 28 of these drones were shot down, while 10 got lost in the air.
**Casualties in Various Regions**
In Donetsk Oblast, one person was killed and another injured during a Russian attack on the town of Siversk. Two civilians were also hurt in Rivne, and one person was injured in Rodynske.
In Kherson Oblast, two people were killed and 17 others injured in Russian attacks. This included a 50-year-old man who was killed when a drone dropped explosives on a bus in Kherson.
**Russian Forces Suffer Heavy Losses**
Small Russian units are trying to advance around Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, but the town itself is not threatened at the moment. Ukrainian military forces reported that Russian forces suffered 1,970 casualties just over the past day.
**Ukraine Destroys Russian Military Equipment**
President Volodymyr Zelensky said during his evening address that Ukraine “continues to maintain a buffer zone on Russian territory, actively destroying Russian military potential there.”
