The press service of Georgian Government Administration reported that the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili had a meeting with Secretary General of NATO Jens Stltenberg during his working trip to Brussels at his residence.
The meeting highlighted Georgia’s EuroAtlantic ambitions, which are a top priority in the country’s Foreign and Security Policy.
The Head of Government emphasized the close cooperation between Georgia and the Alliance in the Euro-Atlantic Integration process, as a consequence of which Georgia uses all practical tools on its path to membership.
The meeting highlighted the strong support of the Alliance, as well as the close cooperation between partner countries and Georgia in its Euro-Atlantic ambitions. The reforms that Georgia has implemented on its way to integration in the Alliance have been positively evaluated.
“At the meeting, the Secretary General reaffirmed Georgia’s role as a reliable and strong partner of the Alliance, and its important contribution to ensuring global safety, as well ensuring the region of the Black Sea.
“At the summit, the parties expressed their hope that the Alliance would reflect the progress and aspirations of Georgia in its decisions regarding the political support of the country’s goals and the strengthening of practical capabilities.
“The sides also discussed issues and expectations in preparation of the NATO Madrid Summit.”
“The conversation also touched upon the security climate in the region and war in Ukraine, where the Prime Minister reiterated that the Georgian people is united with the Ukrainian people.”
“The Secretary General reiterated his support for Georgian sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The press service reports that “The Prime Minister thanked the Secretary-General for his personal effort and for playing an important role in Georgia’s progression on the road to NATO integration.”
