Irakli Gharibshvili is the chairman of “Georgian Dream”. He declared that Georgia remains in danger of war. He warned that both internal and foreign enemies are trying to bring to power “forces subservient to external interests.” Gharibashvili, speaking at a regional event for the “Georgian Dream”, election campaign in Batumi, claimed that these forces were willing to seize control through “chaos” or “revolution,” ultimately leading Georgia into war.
“Unfortunately, we still face the risk of war. Our internal and external enemies know that the only way they can achieve their goals is by bringing an agency subservient for foreign interests to power. Gharibashvili said that these stateless people were ready to seize the power at any cost.
He said that “Georgian Dream”, and its founder Bidzina ivanishvili, are the guarantee of preventing a similar scenario and ensuring peace and stabilty for the country.
Gharibashvili recalled the “historic victories” of October 1, 2012. In his words, Georgians removed an “antinational regime” from the power. He praised Ivanishvili for his role in defeating a government he described as “standing on terror, blackmail and suppression of any other views.”
Gharibashvili said, “There’s no area where we haven’t made great progress for our country and people.” He claimed that “Georgian Dream’s” government had liberated businesses from state interference, reestablished human rights, and turned Batumi and Adjara “one of Europe‘s outstanding seaside resorts.”
Gharibashvili, in addressing the legacy of the August 8th war, criticised the former government. He stated, “The war of August 8, 2008, was the biggest crime and betrayal that they committed.” He accused them of dragging their country into conflict which resulted “in the deaths of our brave soldiers, the occupation and displacement of thousands of refugees.”
Gharibashvili reaffirmed his warning that Georgia still faces the risk of war. “The internal and foreign enemies of the country are very well aware that the only way they can achieve their goal is by bringing an agency submissive of foreign interests into power…and then, of course to involve Georgia in war.”
He assured the audience, however, that “Georgian Dream”, will continue to protect this country. “Our leader, Bidzina, and “Georgian Dream”, are the guarantee of avoiding such a situation, neutralizing risks, maintaining peace and security in the country.
Gharibashvili finished by stressing the importance the upcoming elections on October 26. He urged citizens to choose “between war or peace” and support “the preservation and victory of our nation.”
