Visiting European MPs Are Lamenting Their Own Loss, Says Georgian MP.
A group of European parliamentarians visited Georgia recently. According to Irakli Kadagishvili, a member of the country’s parliament from the party Georgian Dream, these visitors were not in Georgia for a friendly trip.
Kadagishvili said that the foreign relations chairs of eight EU parliaments came to Georgia to express their disappointment with their own election losses. He accused them of trying to blackmail Georgian voters through intimidation.
The MP claimed that these European politicians were directly involved in pre-election campaigns and broke rules by doing so. Now, he says, they are joining protests because their local supporters lost the elections.
Kadagishvili mentioned that these visitors knew why former President Mikheil Saakashvili is now in jail. They also know what a European court decided about him. The MP said that the October 26th election was fair and clean, but these EU politicians want to see their friends in power.
