**Georgia’s Prime Minister Calls for a Reset in Relations with EU and US**
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has expressed his desire to improve relations between Georgia, the European Union (EU), and the United States. He believes that if the U.S. addresses its internal issues, such as oligarchic influences and the “deep state,” their relations will become more positive.
**Current Relations are Undesirable**
The Prime Minister described the current state of relations with both the EU and the US as “entirely undesirable.” He pointed out that Georgia had submitted an application for candidate status three years ago, but was denied without explanation. NGOs and some politicians claimed that they should have been involved in the process, which Kobakhidze saw as a attempt to block Georgia’s progress.
**NGOs and Sabotage**
Kobakhidze accused certain NGOs of sabotaging Georgia’s efforts to implement a 12-point plan. He stated that these organizations refused to participate in working groups and openly campaigned against candidate status, while claiming to prioritize European integration.
**New Hopes with US Changes**
The Prime Minister remains optimistic about future relations with the U.S. due to changes anticipated under President Donald Trump. He believes that an end to the war in Ukraine and a purge of informal influences in the US will lead to improved relations between Georgia and both the EU and the US.
